Managing Eviction & Foreclosure Attorney

Kayo Manson-Tompkins

Kayo Manson-Tompkins is the managing attorney of The Firm’s Eviction and Foreclosure Departments.  Ms. Tompkins has spent the majority of her over 30 years in practice handling residential civil litigation, with particular emphasis on complex evictions, non-judicial foreclosures, title resolution, and mobile home foreclosures.  Ms. Manson-Tompkins also has substantial experience handling surplus funds, deeds-in-lieu of foreclosure and bankruptcies.  Ms. Manson-Tompkins has been frequently called upon to speak at local and national mortgage industry events.  She has been a speaker at several REOMAC and UTA conferences, a faculty speaker for the National Business Institute (NBI) and Lorman Education Services on residential servicing issues, and a panelist and lead facilitator for various USFN Servicing Seminars.  She has also published various articles for the USFN, the UTA and Servicing Management and she helped create and develop the Eviction Timelines Matrix for USFN which was first published in February 2002. She was also on the USFN sub-committee that created and developed the Manufactured Homes Desk Guide, State-by-State, which was first published in January 2004. Ms. Tompkins is a current board member of the UTA and is a past chair of the USFN REO/Evictions Committee and Publications Committee.  Ms. Tompkins is admitted to all State and Federal Courts within the State of California

AREAS OF PRACTICE

  • Residential Mortgage Banking:  Managing Attorney of Eviction and Foreclosure Departments.

  • Eviction: Representation of investors, lenders, and servicers in post-foreclosure eviction matters, including rent and eviction control matters, complex issues, jury trials and appeals.

  • Non-Judicial Foreclosure: Representation of lenders and servicers in non-judicial foreclosures in reviewing and/or resolving title issues, foreclosure process issues and escalation issues.

  • Manufactured Homes: Representation of lenders and servicers in reviewing title to a manufactured home to insure it is affixed to the real property and de-titled, correcting title and/or processing manufactured home foreclosures.

  • Surplus/Interpleaders:  Managing Attorney of surplus disbursement matters, including the filing of interpleader or petition to deposit actions.
